William "Bill" H. Parmely of rural LeRoy passed away Monday, November 05, 2018, at Sunset Manor in Waverly.

Bill was born February 10, 1922, at the farm home near LeRoy, the son of Clarence and Mabel (Thornton) Parmely.  He grew up on the farm and graduated from LeRoy High School in 1940. He attended Kansas State University for three years when he enlisted in the army and served his country in the Army Air Force during World War II.

He married Glenna Jean Petty on May 24, 1944, at the Methodist Church in Biloxi, Mississippi. They were parents of four children.

He spent his lifetime as a farmer, specializing in commercial egg production and marketing. In his retirement he converted the family farm into a wildlife habitat.

Bill was a longtime member of the Methodist Church, having been baptized as an infant in the church at LeRoy.  At the time of his death he was a member of the Methodist Church in Burlington, Kansas, where he served in many positions and on many committees.

He had been very interested in the education of the youth and he had served many years on the local school boards.

On May 14, 2018, Bill was preceded in death by Jean, his beloved wife of 74 years.

He is survived by his children, Cheryl Parmely of Newton Centre, MA, Lon Parmely and wife Liza of Spokane, WA, Janice Cooley of LeRoy, and Teresa Middleton and husband John of Broken Arrow, OK; nine grandchildren, Kelsey Langham (Jeremy), Kountze, TX, Nick Cooley (Kristi), Grand Junction, CO, Andrea Hoffman (Victor), Jenks, OK, John Middleton (Laura), Bixby, OK, Hannah Middleton and Mark Middleton, Broken Arrow, OK, Michelle Ferderer (Ben), Spokane, WA, David Parmely, Anchorage, Alaska, and Scott Parmely, Seattle, WA; nine great-grandchildren, Colton and Grayson Cooley, Elsie, Josephine, and Evangeline Ferderer, Jack and Addie Jean Hoffman, and Anna and John Middleton; a brother, Conrad Parmely, LeRoy, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 12, 2018, at the Burlington United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in LeRoy Cemetery.
