Wayne Lingenfelter, 88, of rural Burlington, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Emporia Presbyterian Manor.

He was born March 22, 1935, at Gridley, the son of Ernest Ray and Louise "Lucy" (Isch) Lingenfelter. He attended Sunnyside and Washington rural schools before graduating from Gridley High School in 1953.

On September 16, 1956, he and Shirley Yvonne Stukey were married at the United Methodist Church in Gridley. They made their home on a farm north of Gridley where they raised their four children. Wayne was a life-long farmer and rancher.

He and Shirley suffered the loss of their son, Robert Wayne Lingenfelter on June 15, 1977.

Wayne is survived by his children, Steven Lingenfelter of Olpe, KS, Kevin Lingenfelter of Gridley, KS, and Gerri Reisbig of Burlington, KS: grandchildren, Laci Hansen (Zach), Josh Lingenfelter (Kelsey), Sam Lingenfelter (Nicole), Emily Lingenfelter, Joe Lingenfelter (Shannon), Alison Lingenfelter, Ethan Reisbig, and Kyle Reisbig; 8 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Raaf (Fred), Overland Park, KS, and Shirley Coppock (Ron), Wichita, KS; a brother, Harvey Lingenfelter (Sue), Gridley, KS; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday, May 1, 2023, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will follow in Gridley Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends from 5:00 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday at Jones Funeral Home.
