Warren Walter Bell of Burlington Kansas passed away at his home in the early morning of September 19th after a courageous multi-year battle with cancer.  He was 78.

Warren, the eldest son of Walter and Glennis (Wolf) Bell was born Feb 14, 1946 in Wichita Kansas.  He graduated from Andover High School in 1964, received an Associate of Arts degree from Butler County Community College, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from Kansas State University.  He was an avid K-State fan, always cheering for a Wildcat victory.

Warren served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972.  He was stationed at the Homestead Florida Airforce Base and later served at the Guam Naval Communication Station as a Cryptotech.

On July 5, 1969, during a two-week military leave, he married the love of his life, Linda (Pack) Bell.  She accompanied him in Florida and Guam.  They celebrated their 55th Anniversary this year.

Warren was employed with the K-State Research and Extension as a Coffey County Agricultural Agent and Neosho River Watershed Specialist, retiring in 2009.  This was a job he truly loved.  Working with farmers, cattle producers, 4-Hers, and other residents of Coffey County was an honor to him.  His vast knowledge of animal husbandry and various agriculture topics was a great resource to the community.  He thoroughly enjoyed the annual effort of conducting the Coffey County Fair.

After settling on a farm southwest of Burlington, Warren also loved his cow-calf operation and tending to cattle daily.  His inventive mind produced many novel solutions for solving challenges on the farm.

Blessed with great lifelong friends, he went on numerous adventures.  He enjoyed annual fishing trips with classmates from high school.  Warren and Linda shared many laughs with Guam Navy friends during their annual reunions.

He celebrated being the proud father of two sons and later in life becoming a grandpa.  He had five grandchildren in total, Levi, Sage, Eliza, Rhett, and Vivian.  He was happy to attend any event if his grandchildren were involved.

He was a devoted member of the Burlington Methodist Church.  Warren volunteered for multiple organizations, including USD 244 school board, Coffey County Republican Committee, Coffey County Fair Board, Burlington Township, and he was a proud member of the Neosho Valley Grange.

Warren is survived by his wife Linda; sons Seth (Lorrie) Bell of Burlington Kansas and Brandon (Meredith) Bell of Marshalltown, Iowa; his grandchildren Sage and Rhett Bell of Burlington and Levi, Eliza, and Vivian Bell of Marshalltown; a brother Terry (JoEllen) Bell of Benton, Kansas and many nieces, nephews and cousins whom he cared for greatly.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on October 5th, 2024 at the Burlington Methodist Church. In leu of flowers, memorials may be to the Johnson Cancer Research Center, Kansas State University or Hand-In-Hand Hospice, and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, PO Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
