Virginia Rose McCullough, 97, long-time resident of Burlington, Kansas, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023, at her daughter's home in Gridley, Kansas.

She was born January 2, 1926, at Burchard, NE, the daughter of Walter and Rose (Hart) Weast. She graduated from Yates Center Kansas High School.

On December 16, 1947, she and Franklin Lyle "Bump" McCullough were marred at the Foursquare Church at Burlington.

Virginia was a member of the Burlington Christian Church and the Christian Women's Fellowship.

She had been employed at the Z & L Grocery in Burlington. She was a talented cake decorator making cakes for various occasions for a number of years. She also operated a catering business. She loved quilting, crocheting, and painting in her spare time.

Her husband, Franklin, preceded her in death on May 22, 2018, following 70 years of marriage.

She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christy Burton; a grandson, Mark McCullough; and two brothers, Leonard Weast and Clarence Paul White.

She leaves her children, Jim Anders (Donette) Port Orchard, WA, Marsha Dyke (Tom) Gridley, KS, and Bonnie Bennett, Burlington, KS; grandchildren, Tina Wiedmer, Stacy Brite (Larry), Robert Dyke (Crystal), Mitzi Merkel (Robert), Rachael Williams, and Adam McCullough; 21 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Don White (Sharon), Burlington; a number of nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the Burlington Christian Church. Burial will follow in Baker Cemetery west of Burlington.

The family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
