Frances "Viola" Luney, 81, LeRoy, died on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home at Waverly.

Viola was born on January 19, 1937, at LeRoy, to Kenneth and Hazel Gillespie Williams.

Viola grew up in LeRoy and graduated from LeRoy High School. She married Robert L. Luney, on November 27, 1955, at the LeRoy Christian Church. They were the parents of two sons. Viola had worked as the LeRoy City Clerk for 14 years, and then at Bob's I.G.A., in Burlington for 14 years also.

Viola was a member of the LeRoy Christian Church, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and the LeRoy Fire Department Auxiliary. She treated the LeRoy firemen like her own kids.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, on January 2, 2018, her brothers, Raymond, Doyle, Carroll, and Frank Williams, and her sisters, Bea Hatfield and Dorothy McDaniel.

Viola is survived by her sons, James Luney and wife Donna, LeRoy, and Charles Luney and wife Kathy, Wichita; 5 grandchildren, Ashley Gerlach and husband Matt, Clearwater, KS, Kelsie Matta and husband Adrian, Wichita, Mallory and Marissa Luney, LeRoy, and Sydney Luney, Wichita; three great-grandchildren, Gracie and Gabe Gerlach, and Liam Matta; her sister, Irene Hobert, LeRoy; many other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at the LeRoy Christian Church. The family will receive friends, Tuesday evening, 6:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Logue Cemetery, east of LeRoy. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Sunset Manor and can be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, P.O.
