Velma L. Settlemyer, 92, Burlington, died on November 4, 2019, at the Life Care Center.

Velma was born on April 9, 1927 at Yates Center, to Zelda Floyd and Louise Mable Englebrecht Pendley.

Velma married Norman Richard Settlemyer on August 20, 1950, in Yates Center. They lived together in Yates Center, until moving to Burlington in 1957. He died on November 15, 2008.

Velma worked various jobs. She was a School Bus driver for the Burlington Schools for many years until her retirement.

Velma was also preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Doris Black.

She is survived by her daughters, Norma Louise Settlemyer, Dodge City, Mayetta Ruth Taylor, Burlington, and Lila Belle Winterringer, New Strawn, a son, Arthur Mac Settlemyer, Burlington, her sister, Wilma Hasstedt, Piqua, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 1:30 P.M., Friday, November 8, 2019, at the Jones Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Yates Center Cemetery. Contributions may be given to the Bus Barn and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, P.O. Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
