Twyla Fern (Puckett) Lauber, Roller, age 99, died peacefully on September 18, 2026, being cared for by the gracious staff of Pittsburg Care and Rehabilitation.

Twyla was born on Thanksgiving Day November 25, 1926, at the home of her parents, Clifford and Grace Puckett, of rural Middletown in Wilson County. She was a cherished sister to Floyd (Doris) Puckett and Dennis (Mary) Puckett.

After graduating from Coyville High School, Twyla received her teaching certificate and taught four years in a rural elementary school near Fredonia. In 1948 she married the love of her life, Melvin Lauber. They raised two sons, Rick and Daryl. She assisted her husband in farming and cattle raising in Woodson County until his death in 1964. Twyla moved with her boys to Yates Center and was employed at the Woodson County Courthouse. She retired from the Office of County Assessor following 25 years of service to the residents of Woodson County. Twyla met Ted Roller and they married in 1970. Together they enjoyed a life of camping, fishing, and made several trips to national parks, Idaho, Alaska, and Alabama to visit family until Ted's passing.

Twyla was a loving, compassionate, and caring woman who enjoyed volunteering her talents teaching, singing, and serving in leadership positions at First Christian Church in Yates Center. Her hobbies included: bowling, easy crochet crafting gifts for family, working jigsaw puzzles, playing piano by ear, baking delicious desserts and candies for the holidays like her mother Grace, gardening, and researching family history.

Her greatest pride was her family. She is survived by children and spouses: Rick (Shelley) Lauber of Iola; Daryl (Kris) Lauber of St. Charles, Missouri; sister-in-law, Mary Puckett of Fredonia; her beloved grandchildren; Kiesha, Alicia, McKayla, Cameron, Missy, Terri, Kayla, Sandra, Rhonda; great-granchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

A private family burial will be held at Yates Center Cemetery. The family expresses a special appreciation to Lane Jones of the Jones Funeral Home for arrangements. And to the staffs of Yates Center Care and Rehabilitation and Pittsburg Care and Rehabilitation/hospice care.
