Shirley Yvonne Lingenfelter, 83, of rural Burlington, Kansas, passed away early Saturday, December 4, 2021, at the Life Care Center in Burlington.

She was born June 2, 1938, at the Crandall Ranch west of LeRoy, KS, the daughter of Alvin Earl and Yvonne Geraldine (Platt) Stukey. She grew up in Gridley, KS, and graduated from Gridley High School in 1956.

On September 16, 1956, she and Wayne Lingenfelter were married at the Gridley United Methodist Church. They became the parents of four children.

Besides her work as a farm wife, Shirley was secretary for the Gridley schools for 20 years, retiring in 2001. She was a long-time active member of the Gridley United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

On June 15, 1977, Shirley and Wayne suffered the loss of their son, Robert Wayne "Bob" Lingenfelter. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Alvin Lawrence Stukey.

She leaves Wayne, her husband of more than 65 years; her children, Steven Lingenfelter of Olpe, KS, Kevin Lingenfelter of Gridley, KS, and Gerri Reisbig of Burlington, KS: grandchildren, Laci Hansen (Zach), Josh Lingenfelter (Kelsey), Sam Lingenfelter (Nicole), Emily Lingenfelter, Joe Lingenfelter (Shannon), Alison Lingenfelter, Ethan Reisbig, and Kyle Reisbig; 8 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will follow in Gridley Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends from7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
