Sheryl Cole passed away on Thursday June 9 ^th 2022 at Life Care Center in Burlington.  She was 67 years old.

Sheryl was born to parents Mary Ann McAlister (Grundmeier) and Vivian Sherman "Mac" McAlister on December 14 ^th 1954 in Washington, Kansas.  She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1972.  She attended and graduated from Emporia State College and planned on teaching home economics.

Throughout Sheryl's professional career she held many positions.  She worked as a Certified Nurse's Assistant and more recently as a cook.  She worked as a cook at Coffey County Hospital, Sunset Manor, and at the Meadows.  She loved to cook and did as much as she could from scratch.  Sheryl lived for making the residents of the Meadows happy through her food.  She would smile ear to ear when talking about how much the residents loved her cooking.  Sheryl had a servant's heart and lived to serve the Lord and his people here on Earth.  She put on a brave face and a big smile even though she was often hurting.  She wanted so badly to keep working past her full retirement age that she underwent heart surgery which would have allowed her to obtain the hip replacement she needed to remain at work until 70. Complications arose after a successful surgery and her dreams to continue serving were dashed.  She is now pain free after having gone to see her Heavenly Father.

Sheryl is survived by her sister Linda McAlister of Texas, son Derek Bucheit and his wife Melanie of Burlington, Grandson Owen Yokum, and Nieces Mary Ellen Kilpatrick (Knewtson) of Oklahoma and Molly Evans (Knewtson) of Colorado.

Sheryl is preceded in death by her husband Ollie Cole and her parents Mac and Mary Ann.

Sheryl's wishes were to be cremated.
