Sherman Lee Houston, 94, of LeRoy, Kansas, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Yates Center Health and Rehab. Sherman was born August 22, 1929, in LeRoy, KS. His parents were Charles B. Houston, Sr. and Sarah (McGahan) Houston. Sherman lived and farmed around LeRoy all his life. On October 7, 1947, he married the love of his life, Martha Mullins. They enjoyed 64 years together before Martha passed away in 2012. They were blessed with two children, Michael and Sheila.

Sherman was a man of great faith. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burlington.

Sherman was preceded in death by his wife, Martha, and his parents. Also, his brother, Charles B. Houston, Jr. and his wife Millie, and a sister Virginia Thomas and her husband, Roy.

He leaves behind is son, Michael (Deb) and daughter, Sheila (Roger) Gilbert; four granddaughters, Monica (Richard) Mason, Shona Houston, Shelli (Bill) Cole, and Chelsey (Ryan) Schwendemann; 7 great-grandchildren, Reece Morgan, Hunter, Remington, and Kimber Cole, and Kaden, Payton, and River Schwendemann.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Burlington. Burial will follow in Logue Cemetery east of LeRoy.

The family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
