Scott Martin Gehrer, 55, of Yates Center, Kansas, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, MO.

Scott was born January 19, 1966, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Robert E. and Martha Kathleen (Koob) Gehrer. He grew up in Wichita and graduated from Wichita East High School. He had been employed as a salesman most of his working life. He had worked at the radio station in Chanute, KS, and at Blackjack Liquor in Yates Center for 10 years. He had made his home in Yates Center for the past 17 years. Besides Yates Center and Wichita he spent 3 years in Tennessee which he thoroughly enjoyed.

On November 15, 2013, he and Pamela Ann Surles were married in Yates Center. Scott suffered the loss of his wife, Pam, on December 12, 2018.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Kathy Gehrer.

He leaves two sons, Russell Gehrer of Yates Center and Shawn Shackelford of Wichita; three step-daughters, Krystal Hollenback (Bryson), Marque Surles, and Amber Surles, all of Boise, ID; grandchildren, Jax, Stella, Zander, and Zeke; siblings, Mike Gehrer (Jeannie), Mary Fulton (David), and Greg Gehrer, all of Wichita, Karen Wood (Ron) of Gonzales, LA, Laurie Goodman of Attica, KS, and Mark Gehrer (Mary) of Cheney, KS; a number of nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

Scott was a proud father and grandfather and loved the time spent with his grandchildren. He was a sports fanatic and especially enjoyed college football but what ever game was on at the time would work. He will be missed.

Cremation is planned. Inurnment will be at a later date beside his wife Pam in Yates Center Cemetery.
