Ruth Jean Garrett Huff, 90, of Burlington, Kansas, passed away on Saturday night, September 26, 2020, at her daughter's home in Sutherland, Iowa.

Ruth was born in Belpre, Kansas, on January 20, 1930, to Herbert and Helen Garrett. She received most of her education in the Burlington schools, graduating in 1948. She was united in marriage to Charles A. Huff on August 15, 1947. They had six children. They lived in many places in the Midwest as Charles pursued his dream as a Boy Scout Executive. In 1960, the family returned to Burlington working in the family business, Huff's Gardens.

Ruth was an avid gardener, loved feeding her birds, working her flower beds, sewing and reading. For many years she supplied weekly bouquets for the church. She was a member of the Christian Church wherever she lived. She was a Bible teacher, deaconess, and a Girl Scout leader. She loved having her grandchildren visit. The Christian faith that Charles and Ruth had has been passed down from one generation to another.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 65 years; a daughter, Susan Hawley; an infant son, Charles Samuel; her parents; her sister, Betty Johnson; and brother, Herb Garrett.

She is leaves her children, Harry E. Huff (Debbie) of Burlington, Helen Steele (Tom) of Sutherland, IA, Lou Ann Huskisson (Dan) of Peoria, AZ, and Cathy Salava of Columbus, NE; and a sister, Muriel Lystad (Andy) of Baudette, MN. She leaves fifteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be at Jones Funeral Home on Friday, October 2, 2020 from 6-8 pm.  Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Jones Funeral Home.  She will be laid to rest at Bailey Cemetary.  Masks are encouraged but not required.
