Ruth Elaine DeCamp Hayes, 81, of Burlington, Kansas, passed away early Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at her home.

Ruth was born February 28, 1941, in Alva, OK, the daughter of Fenton and Opal (Waits) Hoskins. The family moved to Burlington in 1953. Her mother, Opal, died in 1954 and her father later married Bessie Mattox.

Ruth graduated from Burlington High School and on November 8, 1959, she and Medford DeCamp were married. They became the parents of a daughter, Rhonda, and a son, Brian. They made their home at Hitchland, TX, where Ruth cared for her family and home and helped Medford on the farm.

Her husband, Medford, preceded her in death on January 22, 1996. Later that year Ruth moved to Burlington to be near her family.

On September 6, 1996, Ruth and Ralph Hayes were married. He preceded her in death on November 6, 2008.

Ruth attended the New Strawn Community Christian Church in New Strawn, KS.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Snovelle and Lola Mae Smith, and a brother, Lonnie Hoskins.

She leaves her children, Rhonda Lamle (John) of Enid, OK, and Brian DeCamp (Sharina), of Sioux Center, IA; five grandchildren, Jared Lamle, Jacob Decamp, Lacy Lamle, Zachary DeCamp, and Addie Davis; two great-grandchildren, Brynlee and Kadee Davis; her companion, Albert Wamser; a brother, Randy Hoskins, Plymouth, IN; four sisters, Judy Abendroth (Paul), Betty Hawkins (Denny), all of Burlington, KS, Lois Walsh (Dewayne), Kansas City, MO, and Mary Lou Shidler (Richard), Argos, Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.

The family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Liberal Cemetery, Liberal, KS, at a later date.
