Roberta Ann (Keys) Norman, 84, of Waverly, KS died early in the morning of May 22, 2020, at the Coffey County Hospital in Burlington, KS.

She was born March 5, 1936, in Lebo, KS as the middle daughter of Raymond Charles and Laura Belle (Robinson) Keys.  Her parents preceded her in death as did an older brother, Charles Keys.  Surviving siblings included DeEtta Danner, Gary Keys, and Brenda Colwell.

When she was 2 years of age, her family moved to their farm at 24 ^th Road & 75 Highway.  She attended Sunflower school from first through sixth grade before moving with her family to the city of Burlington, KS.  There, she started seventh grade and graduated from Burlington High School in 1954.

Roberta married John Wayne Norman on May 15 ^th , 1955, at the Burlington United Methodist Church.  John Wayne preceded her in death on January 8, 2020.  They raised 3 daughters and acquired 3 sons-in-law: Laurie (Steve) Stewart of Lenexa, KS; Sandra (Jack) Salava of Manhattan, KS; and Waynette Gaye (Johnnie) Jarred of Claremore, OK.  They welcomed the addition of four grandsons, one granddaughter, their respective spouses, and four great grandchildren.  This included Jesse Jarred (Marissa), John Michael Jarred (Natalie), Jordan Salava, Justin Jarred, Sara Salava Bower (Craig) and great grandchildren Mara, Mali, Mava, and Rhett Jarred.  Roberta enjoyed keeping everyone "lined out" and hosting family gatherings at the farm.

In addition to helping on the farm, Roberta's work included dental assistant for Dr. Hildreth; secretarial positions for Coffey County Soil Conservation and Emergency Preparedness offices; program assistant for the ASCS office; cashier at Beto Junction; and fire watch during Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant outages.  She also taught quilting and craft classes at the Burlington Rec Center.

During her lifetime, Roberta was a member of the Burlington United Methodist Church.  She participated in the following community organizations: Coffey County Extension Board, Election Board for Pottawatomie Township, Women in Farm Bureau, Stringtown Bombers 4-H Sewing Leader, Prairie View Neighbors EHU, Waverly Wranglers Square Dance Club, and Pieces & Patches Quilt Guild.

Her interests included quilting, sewing, crafting, bowling, fishing, dancing, casino gambling, gardening, and riding her lawn mower.  With so many interests, her many projects and a stash of fabric should be included in her list of survivors.

Private family funeral services will be held 2:30 P.M. Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery northeast of Burlington.

Roberta will lie in state from 9:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited and will be allowed into the funeral home in controlled numbers.
