Robert Wayne "Bob" Truelove Sr, 80, of rural Hartford, KS, entered into eternal rest on July 17, 2024 at his childhood home surrounded by loved ones.

Born January 30, 1944, to Irvin and Mildred (McCullough) Truelove, Bob graduated from Burlington High School and later enlisted in the Marine Corps, serving his country bravely in Vietnam. Upon returning to the States, he married Sara Don Holloman on August 26, 1967, in Springfield, VA, where they would make a home and raise their family of three children: Signe, Robert Jr. "Robb", and Richard "Rick", later divorcing. On October 9, 1993, Bob married Judy Lind in Iola, KS, later divorcing but remaining friends.

Bob was very mechanically inclined and could fix or build just about anything. After being honorably discharged from the Marines, Bob attended and graduated from Pittsburgh Aeronautical School in Pennsylvania and later worked at National Airport, now Reagan National, in Virginia. He later owned and operated his own construction company until 1985, when he moved back to Kansas to take over the Truelove family farm. Bob was proud of his crops and cattle; loving the land and what it could provide.  Bob was always generous with friends and family. He always planted a large sweet corn patch and enjoyed sharing it with others.

After retirement, his favorite pastime was "supervising" the next generations as they continued to farm the land. He enjoyed caring for his beloved cats and planting fruit trees on his farm. Bob had an inviting and humorous personality and enjoyed visiting with others. No one was a stranger to him.

Bob is survived by his three children: Signe Truelove, Emporia, KS, Robb Truelove, Elizabeth City, NC and Rick (Angie) Truelove, Burlington, KS as well as four grandchildren: Grace, Jarrett, Charlie and Kahne Truelove. Bob is also survived by his siblings: John Truelove, Burlington, KS; James (Nancy) Truelove, Libertyville, IL; Shirley Chrisman, Overland Park, KS; and Marjorie (Art) Trumble of Walnut Shade, MO as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Delores (John) Truelove.

As per Bob's wishes, cremation is planned. Memorial services with military honors will be held graveside Friday, July 26th at 10:00 am at Hartford Cemetery.

The family will be available to visit with friends and family Thursday, July 25th from 7-8 pm at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
