Rick Craig Turner, 68, Gridley, died on January 3, 2021, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

Rick was born on April 18, 1952, in Horton, Kansas, to  Ted and Zohna Wagoner Turner.

On January 22, 1972, he married Vickie Jayne Birk in Gridley.

Rick did various jobs in his life from working for I.B.P., in the oil fields, as a meat cutter for Dillon's, and owned and operated grocery stores in Buhler, Florence, Marion, and Peabody, until his retirement.

He was a member of the Gridley United Methodist Church and several Beekeepers Clubs.

Rick had a wide variety of interests and hobbies, including cooking, gardening, flying, honeybees, chickens, meat- cutting and tall tales. He did nothing on a small scale. When his daughter went to flight school, he renewed a lifelong passion for flying and became a pilot. Rick lived life with an ingenuity for learning new things and a generosity for others. He was a good friend to many, but above all, he loved his family.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Teddy C. Turner and a brother, Teddy M. Turner.

Rick is survived by his wife Vickie of the home;  his mother, Zohna Turner, Ozark, Arkansas, two daughters, Kristal (Larry) Timm, Morton, Illinois, and Kirstan (Matt) Turner Fredrick, Savannah, Georgia, two grandchildren, Jayne and Josiah Timm, two brothers, Danial and Andy Turner, a sister Veena Ziegenbalg, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M., on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Gridley United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, P.O. Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
