Richard Anthony Yurco, 52, of New Strawn, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at the Coffey County Hospital in Burlington after becoming ill at home.

Richard was born September 18, 1969, in St. Louis County, MO, the son of Ludwig F. and Carol Ann (Novotny) Yurco. He attended Linn State Technical College where he received his Associates of Applied Science Degree in Nuclear Technology-Radiation Protection Option. He also received an award for Outstanding Student. He was employed at the Fulton State Hospital in Fulton, MO, for 15 years, and for the past 9 years has worked in Radiation Protection at Wolf Creek Nuclear Generating Station.

He was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Emporia, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

On July 14, 2018, he and Tammy Elaine Lesslie were married in Las Vegas, NV. She survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Christina Ledford (Joshua) of Vandalia, MO; bonus children, Ethan, Laura, Lydia (Jessie), Jessica, and Logan; two grandchildren, Carson and Ava; bonus grandchildren; a sister, Cathy Woodson (Andy); two brothers, Joseph Yurco (Kay) and Steve Yurco; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

Richard was loved by everyone who knew him. He was a devoted husband, father, bonus Dad, grandpa, brother, son, uncle and friend. His wife was the love of his life and he was hers too. Where you saw one you saw the other.

Richard would do any little or big thing around the house that needed fixing. He liked to fix things and enjoyed working outside. He also loved to grill and smoke meat on his smoker. The family enjoyed whatever he made. He liked to ride his bike and go on long rides. Richard and Tammy liked to travel together and would visit family and friends while traveling. Richard enjoyed his job and was a hard worker. Whatever he did, he did it well. He also enjoyed hosting exchange students over the past few years.

Memorial services will be held 1:30 P.M. Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington, KS. Inurnment will follow in Graceland Cemetery at Burlington.

The family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at Jones Funeral Home.
