Richard Eugene Short, 61, of Burlington, Kansas, died Wednesday morning, July 31, 2019, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.

He was born November 23, 1957, the son of Junior and Martha (Palmer) Short.

The family moved from Burlington to Copeland, Kansas in 1966. They lived in various locations and Richard graduated from Montezuma Kansas High School. He served in the U. S. Navy. Over the years he had owned, operated, and was employed at different convenience stores. He returned to Burlington in 1998. He had been employed at Jump Start in Burlington until having health issues.

He is survived by his mother, Martha Short, of Burlington, and two siblings, Gary and Carmia.

Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held 6:00 P.M. pm Sunday, August 18, 2019, at the Burlington Baptist Bible Church in Burlington.

The family requests no flowers. Memorial contributions in memory of Richard may be made to Jones Funeral Home to assist his mother with expenses.
