Raymond Keith Moore, 90, of rural Gridley, Kansas , passed away unexpectedly while working on his farm Sunday evening, August 22, 2021.

Raymond was born June 27, 1931, in Gridley, the son of Ray Mitchell and Velma Faye (Reed) Moore. He was raised on the family farm. He attended Washington Rural Grade School and graduated from Gridley High School in 1949. The remainder of his life was spent on the farm, raising crops and taking care of livestock.

On June 3, 1962, he and Shirley Mae Gregersen were married at the First Christian Church in LeRoy, KS. They recently celebrated 59 years of marriage.

Raymond was a longtime faithful member of the Gridley United Methodist Church. He had served on the Board of Directors of the Farm Bureau and the local watershed. He had been awarded the Coffey County Kansas Banker's Assoc. Soil Conservation Award in 1991.

In his leisure time Raymond enjoyed playing pitch, square dancing, and bowling. He was good with numbers and math. Mostly he enjoyed his family and his dog, Buster, his best friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Erica Eccles; and a brother, Lloyd Moore.

He leaves his wife, Shirley; his daughters, Terri Moore of Topeka, Debbie Birk and husband Danny of Gridley, Kim Wheeler and husband Greg of Paola, KS, and Vonda Eccles and husband David of Chanute, KS; nine grandchildren, Derek Birk (Amy), Damon Birk (Gennifer), Dane Birk (Bri), Katie, Nick, and Hunter Wheeler, Devin Eccles (Kelli), Kaci Eccles, and Dustin Eccles (Chrissy); sixteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Maurine Wilkinson (Duane), St. Charles, MO; a brother, Daryl Moore (Luetta), Gridley; a number of nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday, August 30, 2021, at the Gridley United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Gridley Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
