Pearl Eva (Wolcott) (Wyble) Purdy, 88, long-time resident of Gridley, Kansas, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Holiday Resort in Emporia, Kansas.

Pearl was born May 10, 1935, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the daughter of Homer and Muriel (Warnken) Wolcott. She graduated from Gridley High School in 1983, and attended Emporia State University receiving her AA in Accounting in 1986.

On May 18, 1952, Pearl and James Ernest "Bud" Wyble were married at Virgil, KS. Theybecame the parents of four children. Bud preceded her in death on November 16, 1990. Pearl married Luther Purdy on December 25, 1992. Luther preceded her in death on April 19, 2001.

Pearl worked as the Gridley town librarian for several years, served on the city council and was actively involved in the community. She was well-known and loved by many.

She was a faithful member of the Gridley Christian Church, playing the piano for many years.

She was preceded in death by a brother, John Wolcott and a sister, Lela Gleeson.

She is survived by her children, Richard James Wyble, of Massachusetts, Charles Frederick Wyble (Carol) of Los Angeles, CA, Carol Eva Wyble of Toronto, KS, and John Mark Wyble (Denise), Forest, VA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchilden, a sister, Bernice Haynes of Oklahoma; a brother, William Wolcott of Emporia, KS; many other relatives and friends.

While Pearl's family and friends mourn her loss we want to remember her in a way that honors her spirit and portrays her love for Jesus. She was ready to meet her Savior, and for this we are grateful.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the Gridley Christian Church.
