Orville C. Stockebrand, 97, of Yates Center, Kansas, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018, at his home.

Orville was born March 25, 1921, on the family farm near Burt in Woodson County, Kansas. He was the son of Leslie Earnest and Hazel Grace (Sturdivan) Stockebrand.

He was a farmer and stockman and a life-long resident of Woodson County with the exception of ten years he spent caring for his grandparents at their farm home near LeRoy, Kansas.

On February 22, 1969, he and Doris June Bicknell Thompson were married in Topeka, Kansas. Doris preceded him in death on February 9, 2010, following nearly 41 years of marriage.

Orville was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Leona "Kit" Maun and Vivian Park.

He leaves his daughter, Helen Dorene Stockebrand of Yates Center; his son, Eric Thompson and wife Danna of Wichita, Kansas; a grandson, David Thompson of Baldwin City, Kansas; two great-grandchildren, Chalene VanHoose and Rebecca Thompson; a great-great-granddaughter, Lillian VanHoose; a brother, Elvin Stockebrand of Derby, KS; a sister, Doris Cosgrove of Kansas City, KS; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center. Burial will follow in Yates Center Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday, November 16 at the funeral home.
