Nina Pauline Urton, 87, of rural Waverly, Kansas, passed away Monday, July 28, 2025, at The Meadows in Burlington.

She was born January 17, 1938, at home in Yates Center, KS, the daughter of Glen and Opal (Sellers) Roush. She made her home with her Uncle Paul and Aunt Irma for the first five years of life in the Flint Hills near Matfield Green. She was baptized in the Church of the Nazarene as a young child. She then lived with her father while attending school in Hamilton and later graduating from Madison High School.

On June 5, 1955, she and Charles A. Urton were married at Madison. They became the parents of five children. They made their home in Toronto and Yates Center, KS before settling into their current home at Halls Summit in 1965.

Besides being a farm wife, Nina worked at Country Critters in Burlington, worked along side her husband at auctions and the auctions at the Coffey County Sale Barn at Burlington. She and Charles enjoyed playing cards with neighbors and in earlier years they enjoyed attending dances. In later years Nina liked to do Jigsaw Puzzles.

Her husband, Charles, preceded her in death on June 24, 2012, following 57 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nikki Michelle Smith, and her six siblings, Lyle Roush, Regina Wooten, Donna Crowell, DeLoris Nuckles, Roberta Gaston, and Virginia Dannels.

She leaves her children, Bob Urton, Basehor, Ks, Rocky Urton (Tari), Waverly, KS, Sandra McIntosh (Doug), Richmond, KS, Marilyn Kitt (Kerry), Burlington, and Carolyn Smith (Jerry), Westphalia; 15 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Earl Urton; numerous nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 4, 2025, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will follow in Halls Summit Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 10:00 A.M. Monday until service time at the funeral home.
