Nathan DeWayne Black, son of Lloyd DeWayne and Teresa Ann (Fuller) Black, of Yates Center, Kansas, passed away Friday, January 31, 2020, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was 47 years old.

He was born June 15, 1972, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola, Kansas. He was a life-long resident of Yates Center. He graduated from Yates Center High School in 1991 and attended Hutchison Community College. He then returned to Yates Center where he began 28 years of employment at Superior Building Supply. Last year he and his father started their own carpentry business.

Nathan was active in the community. He served on the Yates Center City Council for 14 years, was a current member of the Yates Center Volunteer Fire Department which he served for 23 years, and a member of the Sons of the American Legion for 18 years. He had coached Yates Center High School Football and Pop Warner Youth Football.

He was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Yates Center.

In his leisure time he enjoyed duck hunting, gardening and growing flowers. He loved to cook and enjoyed having family and friends over for a barbeque or meal. He also has a beautiful singing voice.

He leaves his parents, Buster and Terry Black of Yates Center; his brother, Courtney Black and his companion Heather Hope of Nevada, Missouri; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at Calvary Episcopal Church in Yates Center. Burial will follow in Yates Center Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center.
