Milton Ray Hess, 75, of Burlington, Kansas passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, December 13, 2023 at the Life Care Center in Burlington. Milton was born to Verlin and Anna Louise (Demler) Hess on June 7, 1948 in Burlington, Kansas.

Milton went to school at the district 20 Country School with his siblings, Edwin, Darrell, David, and Kathy. After he graduated high school, Milton went to college at Pitt State and then he went into construction.

Milton married Linda Ritchey on November 21, 1970 in Burlington, Kansas. They moved to a farm in 1973 and stayed there for ten years before moving back into town. Together they had three beautiful children, Darin, Danny and Stephanie.

Milton enjoyed the simple things in life the most like hunting, fishing, gardening, and dancing. He was also a part of the American Legion, National Army Guard, and he helped build Wolf Creek.

He was preceded in death by his parents Verlin and Anna, his brother Darrell Hess, and a nephew Brian Payer.

Milton leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Linda Hess, his children Darin Hess, Danny Hess (Dana), and Stephanie Hess, his grandchildren, Raelyn (Hess) Waters, Brecken Hess, Rylie Hess, Tegan Hess, Carson Hess, Aleesia Hernandez, Rachael Hernandez, and Kenna Hernandez, his brothers Edwin and David Hess, as well as his sister Kathy Payer.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am. On Monday December 18, 2023 at Jones Funeral Home along with a graveside service at Graceland Cemetery after the memorial service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Coffey County Cancer Support Group and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home.
