Milo E. "Mike" Shobe

July 22, 1920 – January 28, 2022

Milo E. "Mike" Shobe, and his twin, Arlo, were born and raised on a farm outside Waverly Kansas.  His parents were Arthur and Edna (Bunge) Shobe. As the Great Depression ended he moved with his parents to South Texas' Rio Grande Valley.  During World War II, Milo served in the Army - Air Force as an Airplane Mechanic in China, India, and Burma.  Although he never spoke of his war experiences, he was discharged as a Sargent receiving the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge GO 10 1944, Victory Ribbon 1, Service Stripe 4, and the Overseas Service Bar. After the war Milo returned to Waverly and married his beloved Dorothy M. Frank, with whom he had attended High School.  They were married for sixty-nine years before she passed in 2014. On Friday, January 28. 2022 Milo reunited with Dorothy in heaven.

For over 50 years Milo farmed a variety of crops including citrus orchards, row crops, grains, and cotton in the San Juan-Alamo area of South Texas. Eventually they moved to Marble Falls, Texas to be closer to their daughters and later moved near Walburg, Texas.

Milo is survived by daughters Tamela "Tami" Baker of Walburg, Texas, and Debra "Debby" Shobe of Austin, Texas, and son-in-law Richard T. Baker as well as 3 grand-children Dean (wife Kris), Dawn (husband Gardiner) and Kenneth (wife Anna), and 7 great-grandchildren. Milo is also survived by his cousin and best friend, Melvin Bunge of Waverly, and several nieces and nephews.

Milo had celebrated his 101 ^st birthday six months before his passage. Interment will be in Waverly, Kansas where he will be beside Dorothy.
