Michael Leon Rich, 75, of rural Gridley, Kansas, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024, at his home.

Mike was born July 28, 1949, at Emporia, KS, the son of Lee and Betty (Cook) Rich. He grew up on the family farm northwest of Yates Center and graduated from Yates Center High School in 1968. He served in the Kansas National Guard from 1969 to 1975.

On June 1, 1979, he and Sheila Marie Snovelle were married at Burlington. They became the parents of a son, Cody. They made their home southeast of Gridley where Mike farmed and raised livestock. He was employed at Wolf Creek Generating Station from 1982 until 2012. Mike loved caring for his cattle and goats. He also loved fishing, coon hunting, and coyote hunting. He enjoyed taking his friends to his fishing hole at his farm and caught many big catfish.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marsha and Patty.

He leaves Sheila, his wife or more than 45 years; his son, Cody Rich and wife Kim, of Waverly, KS; a granddaughter, Karli Marie; a brother, Daniel Rich, Wichita, KS; many other relatives and friends.

Cremation is planned. The family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Friday August 30, 2024, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington to celebrate the life of Mike Rich.
