Michael Brannon "Mike" Lynch, 80, of rural Yates Center, Kansas, passed away early Sunday, October 25, 2020, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Mike was born April 9, 1940, in Owl Creek Township in Woodson County, Kansas, the son of Thomas and Lucille (Teeters) Lynch.

He graduated from Yates Center High School in 1958 and lived most of his adult life in Woodson County on a farm north of Yates Center.  He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1961 and was stationed at Fort Hood, TX, until his discharge in 1963.

Mike traveled with his brother, Morris, to many horse events showing cutting and reining horses.  He was an avid horseman and loved his border collies.  He trained many border collies that he used to herd his sheep and cattle.  He was the neighborhood local "cowboy" always helping them out with cattle.  This is another thing he loved to do.  In 1999 he received the Grassland Award from the Woodson County Conservation District. Mike was always trying to improve quality of grass on his land.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Morris.

He is survived by his sisters, Jeanie (Kenny) Laymon of Neosho Falls, KS, and Joan Taylor of Oak Grove, MO; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Lynch of Fairview, OK; two nieces and three nephews; cousins; and friends.

Due to the Covid-19 situation, private family services will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Yates Center.

Burial will be in Yates Center Cemetery.

Mr. Lynch will lie in state from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Campbell Funeral Home.
