Michael Louis Hinnen, 84, of Toronto, Kansas, passed away on July 5, 2026, at his residence. He was born on February 7, 1942, in Los Angeles, California, to Frederick Louis Hinnen and Marseyne Thornton.

Mike met Kathryn Tinling in high school, and the couple was married on June 15, 1961.

After high school, Mike worked as a fireman in Los Angeles for 20 years before retiring. While firefighting, he learned to fly planes and went on to work as a commercial pilot following his retirement from the fire service. His true calling, however, was law enforcement. He began as a Police Marshal in LeRoy, Kansas, and after serving in various roles across numerous cities, he concluded his career as Sheriff of Woodson County, Kansas, before retiring.

Mike was preceded in death by his brothers, Frederick and Robert, and his sister, Juanita.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his sons, Rory Martin Hinnen (Robin) of New Braunfels, Texas, and Race Allen Hinnen of Pima, Arizona; and two granddaughters, Lauren and Leyna Hinnen.
