Melvin Earl Bunge, long-time resident of Waverly, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Sunset Manor in Waverly. He was 101 years old.

He was born April 12, 1921, at Waverly the son of Earl and Verna (Foster) Bunge. He graduated from Waverly High School and then earned a Bachelor of Agriculture Degree from Kansas State University in 1951.

Melvin and Mildred Louise Robbins were married on February 21, 1950, at Williamsburg, KS. They made their home on their farm south of Waverly.

Melvin was a faithful member of the Waverly United Methodist Church where his wife served as organist for many years.

His wife, Mildred, preceded him in death on December 23, 2007, following 57 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marjorie Bostwick.

Melvin continued to farm until the age of 98 when he finally had to retire.

He is survived by his son, Arlen Bunge of Leavenworth, KS, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at the Waverly United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Waverly Cemetery.

Family and friends will meet from 1:00 P.M. until service time Wednesday at the church.
