Mary Lois Luney, 80, died at the Life Care Center in Burlington, Kansas, on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.

Mary was born in Yates Center, Kansas to Lavera and William Wilkerson on December 11, 1942. She was raised in LeRoy, Kansas by Lavera and Bill Corbin. Mary graduated from LeRoy High School in 1960 and went on to attend business school in Kansas City.

On June 16, 1962, she married her high school sweetheart, Charles "Sonny" Luney, in Miami, Oklahoma. Mary had worked as a homemaker the majority of her life. She had also been a member of the former LeRoy United Methodist Church.

Mary and Sonny enjoyed spending their winters in South Padre Island, making friends from all over the country. Mary also had a love for quilting. She has done many sewing and quilting projects for family, friends, and those in her community. Mary made many small quilts to donate to Project Linus. She would also make sure anyone with a walker or wheelchair had what they needed, whether it was a lap quilt or walker tote bags.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, William Wilkerson, who is buried in Italy. Her parents, Lavera and Bill Corbin. Her husband, Sonny Luney.  Her sisters, Connie Francis and Linda Ulses. She is also preceded by two of her children, Stacy Jo Luney and Travis Christopher Luney.

Mary is survived by two children, Scott Luney and his wife Debbie of Salina, Kansas as well as Paige Sipp and her husband Tom of Wichita, Kansas. Four grandchildren, Dr. Brittany Sipp of Kansas City, Missouri, Brooklyn Sipp of Topeka, Kansas, Brogan Sipp of Dodd City, Texas and adopted granddaughter Lindsay Larkin of Lawrence, Kansas.

Services will be 1 pm, Monday, April 3, 2023, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington, Kansas.

The family will receive friends Sunday early evening between 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Logue Cemetery. Contributions may be made to God's Storehouse, and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, P.O. Box 277, Burlington, Kansas 66839.
