Mary E. Logan, 93, Burlington, Kansas, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Coffey County Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born October 14, 1930, at her maternal grandparents home in Quinter, Kansas to Sidney A. and Florence Boitnott Vann. It was a cold day with ice in the trees. Her family moved to Raymore, Missouri in 1939 due to the depression and dust bowl days. After one year in Missouri she and her family moved to Overbrook, Kansas, Wakarusa, Kansas and finally to Dover, Kansas where she graduated from high school in 1948.

On April 9, 1949 Mary E. Vann and Marion J. Logan were married in Manhattan, Kansas. They celebrated 62 years of marriage and became the parents of two children. Marion preceded her in death on September 10, 2011.

Mary worked for Coolidge Implement Company in Burlington, the Probate Judge's office at the courthouse, and as a legal secretary for various attorneys including William A. Buckles, Dennis Roth, Frank Forbes,  L.R. Hannen, Steve Boyce and Thomas Robrahn. Mary was still working for Thomas Robrahn when she was in her late 80's and loved her legal work.

Mary was a long-time member of the Burlington Methodist Church. She and Marion enjoyed dancing and were charter members of the Prairie Promenaders square dance club and they enjoyed the Harlan's Twirlers round dance club. Mary attended the Sew Friends monthly meetings when she was able.

Mary loved attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's events. From ball games to the county fair. Attending the 4-H shows at the fair was a highlight for her. She truly loved to sew and she made many, many quilts. Some of her quilts were entered in the fairs each year. All her square dance dresses were sewn by herself. She loved rodeos, Royals baseball, K-State games, the Kansas City Chiefs, and Burlington Recreation trips. Attending local auctions was also a favorite.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Gene Vann; and her brother and sister-in-laws - Martin and Lorene Logan, Dale and Carol Logan, Duane and Bethel Logan, James Phillips, Maurice and Mary Gleason, Gail and Margery Blythe.

She leaves her son, Robert Logan of Burlington; her daughter Barbara Sowder and husband Jack of Burlington; five grandchildren, Amanda Schankie and husband Philip, Adam Sowder and wife Charlene, Clinton Sowder and wife Chelsie, Dakota Logan, and Heather Noonan and husband Denny; thirteen great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Malachi, Walker, and Jasmin Logan, Kennedy,  Kynslie and Aspen Noonan, Maddie Szambecki, Brynn, Korbyn and Logan Sowder, Tate and Easton Sowder, and two step great-grandchildren, Tessa Toy and Reed Szambecki; sisters-in-law June Vann and Margaret Phillips; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mary will forever be in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the Burlington Global Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery at Burlington.

The family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
