Marion E. Jones, 83, of rural Yates Center, Kansas, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018, at his farm home northeast of Yates Center.

Marion was born November 1, 1934, in Neal, Kansas, the son of Arthur Harold and Edna Minnie (Hillman) Jones. When he was 14 the family moved to Woodson County. Marion attended Vernon Grade School and graduated from Yates Center High School.

Marion was a life-long farmer and stockman. Besides farming he also was employed at the Air Duct Company in Chanute and then the Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons until his retirement.

In 1955 he and Coletta Heckman were married. They became the parents of three children. They were later divorced.

Marion was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Yates Center.

On December 12, 1986, he and Elizabeth J. "Jeanie" Ploutz were married in Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Marinda Dutton; a step-daughter, Kimberly Ploutz; a great-grandson, Knox Dutton; his brother, Donald Jones; and his sister, Margaret Hale.

He leaves his wife, Jeanie, of the home; his sons, Jerry Jones and wife Janice, and Richard Jones and wife Diana, all of Yates Center; a son-in-law, David Dutton, Granger, Indiana; step-children, Katie Metzger and husband Craig, Gridley, Karla Martinez and husband Brian, Liberty Hill, Texas, and Bret Ploutz, Yates Center; 8 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

A Rosary will be recited 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 31, 2018, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Yates Center. Burial will follow in Yates Center Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center.
