Margaret Earlene Wix, 88, of Yates Center, Kansas, passed away early Friday, March 20, 2020, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

Earlene was born April 13, 1931, in Yates Center, the daughter of Arthur Earl and Ruth Margaret (Beckett) Kee.

She grew up in Yates Center and attended the Yates Center schools. During World War II she worked at a café in Wichita and Durand.

On November 11, 1951, she and Kenneth D. Wix were married at Nevada, Missouri. They made their home in various locations including Great Bend, Lyons, and Kinsley. Earlene was employed at Montgomery Wards in Great Bend and Cross Manufacturing in Kinsley. In 1977 she and Kenneth returned to Yates Center and Earlene worked at the Yates Center Sewing Factory, Carter's Philmart, and at Russell Stover's in Iola until her retirement. In her leisure time she enjoyed fishing and hunting, gardening, her dogs, and watching old Westerns. Mostly she enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended their sports and other activities as long as she was able.

Her husband, Kenneth, preceded her in death on June 4, 2005.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; her twin-brother, Thomas Kee, and her brother, Arthur Kee.

She leaves her daughter, Carla Miller and her husband Randy of Yates Center; four grandchildren, Brandi Boyd of Olathe, KS, Josh Boyd (Bailee Stuber), Sheena O'Brien (Paul), and Chasidy Miller (Tyler Harris), all of Yates Center; eight great-grandchildren, Tristan, Sierra, Morgan, Brayden, Cooper, McKenley, Nora, and Dodge; other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 23, 2020, at Yates Center Cemetery.

Mrs. Wix will lie in state from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. Sunday at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center.

Due to the current situation regarding the Coronavirus certain guidelines will be put in place. Only five people will be allowed in the funeral home at a time to sign the register book and pay respects to Mrs. Wix during the viewing on Sunday. Any person with any signs of illness of any kind should not attend to protect themselves and others. At the graveside we encourage everyone to keep space between each other.
