Lula Mae Day, 78, of Burlington, KS passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Promise Hospital in Overland Park, KS.

She was born November 27, 1942 in Madison, KS to Orville C. and Minnie D. (Ely) Phillips. In her teenage years she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Lula and Freemont Crooks.

Lula married Robert D. Day on May 1, 1966 in Edwardsville, KS. They became the parents of two sons.

Lula worked as a caregiver and manager in nursing homes. She loved dances, playing cards, her garden, and of course, her dog, Olive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, aunt and uncle, and six siblings.

She is survived by her sons, Michael (Christina) Day, Burlington, and their children Victoria and Clayton Day, and Ronald (Cheryl) Day, Pasadena, TX, and their children Charles and Elizabeth Day; Rick and Carolyn Crooks; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Lula will lie in state Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
