Linda Mae Traylor, 88, lifelong resident of Burlington, Kansas, passed away Monday evening, September 28, 2026, at The Meadows in Burlington.
She was born October 6, 1937, in the family home on the south side of Burlington. She attended the Burlington schools graduating from Burlington High School in 1955.
On April 11, 1956, she and Gene Traylor were married at the Christian Church Parsonage in Burlington. They became the parents of four sons, Steve, Jerry, Mark, and Eric.
Linda was employed in the Coffey County Register of Deeds office for over 20 years. First as a deputy before serving three terms as Coffey County Register of Deeds.
She was a long-time member of the Burlington Christian Church. She was also a member of the Republican Women and she and Gene enjoyed square dancing as members of the Prairie Promenaders for a number of years. She was active in the community. If there was an event or a fund raiser you would probably find Linda there. She had many friends and enjoyed visiting with all of them whenever she had the opportunity.
Linda and Gene had recently become residents of The Meadows retirement center in Burlington and enjoyed the friendships they made there.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter-in-law, Janet Hermes Day, wife of Steve Traylor.
She leaves Gene, her husband of more than 70 years, who was always by her side; her sons and their children, Steve Traylor and son Jordon Traylor (Doreen Garcia); Jerry Traylor and wife Lynn and their children, Jessica Traylor, Amy Oleszczak (Bret), Blake Traylor, and Sarah Batrouny (Emile); Mark Traylor and wife Jackie and their children, Bethany Kistner (Dalton), and twins Graham and Michael Traylor; and Eric Traylor; great-grandchildren Lucas Traylor, Charlotte Oleszczak, and Ala May, Rose Marie, and Macy Lynn Garcia; her sister, Frances James, Ponca City, OK; many other relatives and friends.
Linda has been a cornerstone of the Burlington community and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 5, 2026, at the Burlington Christian Church. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery at Burlington.
The family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday, October 4, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
