Lila June Lauber passed on, September 14, 2022, at the Neosho County Memorial Hospital ICU, from Covid complications.

She was born March 23, 1937 in Woodson County Kansas.  Her parents were A.M. Weston and Gladys Stephens Weston.  She attended country schools and was a graduate of Yates Center High School, class of 1955.  She had many fond memories of her childhood and classmates.  While in high school, she worked at Baker's Rexall drug store.

On May 26, 1956, she married O.L. (Bub) Lauber.  They were married for 53 years, until he passed on, September 14, 2009.  They were the parents of two sons, David and Jeff both of Yates Center.  She was a home maker for many years, raising a large garden and preserving many quarts of vegetables for her family to enjoy.  After her sons were out of high school, she started working at the Hiway Foodbasket in Yates Center.  She worked there for 26 years until a back injury forced her into retirement.

For a lot of years, she baked and decorated cakes, making many birthday, anniversary and wedding cakes.  Some of the wedding cakes were quite large and were a challenge to deliver and setup.  She loved working in the yard and having many pretty flowers to enjoy.  She had a lifelong fascination with Hummingbirds and enjoyed watching them till the day she entered the hospital.

She was a member of the First Christian Church and taught Sunday school for many years and was a cooking and club leader in the 3-in-1 4-H Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers June, Duane and Glen E., and her sister Letha Tedder.  In addition to her sons, she is survived by grandson Joshua Lauber and granddaughter Amanda Rice and great grandson Eli Mccormick.

She will be cremated and her wishes were not to have a funeral service.  In place of the service, keep any fond memories you have of her close in your heart.  In honor of Dad's and her brother's military service, she wanted memorials to go to the Yates Center American Legion Post 13.
