Leora May "Lee" True, 82, of rural Westphalia, Kansas, passed away Friday, May 27, 2022, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

Lee was born July 24, 1939, in rural Russell County, Kansas, the daughter of William F. and Hattie (Schepman) Anschutz. She graduated from Wilson High School in 1957. She then moved to Topeka where she was employed at Hallmark Cards.

On October 25, 1959, she and Harold Paul True were married at Latimer, KS. They moved to their farm north of Aliceville and spent the rest of their married life in that area.

Lee was a member of St. John Lutheran Church at Aliceville. She was baptized on August 13, 1939, at St. Peter Lutheran Church at Holyrood, KS, and was confirmed on May 31, 1953, at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Ellsworth, KS.

Over the years she had worked at the Farmers State Bank in Aliceville, the Coffey County Hospital in Burlington, Huff's Gardens in Burlington, Arnold's Greenhouse at LeRoy, and Skidomore's Store in Iola. She also babysat many, many children over the years. They all affectionately referred to her as "Granny", a name she carried proudly.

Granny Lee was extremely talented. She had a passion for sewing and crocheting. She loved to cook, read, and sketch. Her collections of dolls and teapots were immense. So many adults and kids enjoyed her huge Christmas Village display each Christmas season. Antiquing with her family was a favorite pastime. She loved to attend all the activities that involved her children and grandchildren.

Her most important job was that of a farmwife. She helped her husband Harold with everything on the farm and was a hard worker.

Her husband, Harold, preceded her in death on April 22, 2014, following more than 54 years of marriage. She suffered the loss of her daughter, Sandra Lynn Stephens, on April 28, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 6 brothers, Glenn, Dale, Kenneth, John, Carl, and Wilbur Anschutz; and a sister, Vera Lehman.

She leaves two daughters, Lisa Falls and husband Les of LeRoy, KS, and Brenda Ludolph and husband Chad of LeRoy, KS; a son-in-law, Mike Stephens, Westphalia; 8 grandchildren, Adam (Shannon) Stephens, Kristin (Will) Baker, Taylor Stephens, Briane (Dane) Birk, Brogan Falls, Braelyn Falls, Chyler (Briann) Ludolph, and Chonnor (fiancé Laikyn Garland) Ludolph; 4 great-grandchildren, Britlee, Braxtyn, and Brigham Birk, and Caroline Ludolph; 3 sisters, Leona Mutschler, Wilmetta McDonald, and Maydene Meyer; numerous nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at St. John Lutheran Church at Aliceville. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
