Laura Margaret Makepeace, 97, of Burlington, Kansas, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022.

Laura Was born March 3, 1925, at Fortuna, Missouri, to James and Montie (Dowell) Foxworthy.

She was married to Harry Hal Mefford in Missouri and they were later divorced.

On February 17, 1962, she married Milton Makepeace in Miami Oklahoma.

She worked for the Sunshine Biscuit Company in Kansas City for 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Makepeace; an infant son, Donald Roy Mefford; a stepdaughter, Bonnie David; and siblings, Howard Foxworthy, Junior Foxworthy, Francis Beckett, Ellie May Strobel, Alfred Foxworthy, Herbert Foxworthy.

She is survived by her children Herman Hal Mefford, Bonner Springs, KS, Linda Sue (Rumrill) Mefford (Albert), Topeka, KS, and David Lee Mefford (Virginia), Burlington, KS; a brother, Aubrey Foxworthy (Martha), California, MO; 15 Grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

A private family service is planned.
