Kirk Alton Saueressig, 68, Burlington, died in his home with family by his side on May 16, 2020.

Kirk was born December 15, 1951 in Emporia, KS to Wilbert A. and Ruby C. Applegate Saueressig.

On September 1, 1973, he married Paula S. Decker in Burlington, KS.

Kirk graduated from Burlington High School in 1969. He attended Flint Hills Vo-Tech and was certified in the Machine Tool program. He was a member of the Kansas National Guard for 12 years, and the American Legion Post #38.  Kirk retired in 2017 after working 40 years at Wolf Creek Nuclear Generating Plant as a Nuclear Mechanic/Machinist Master Journeyman. He owned and operated K&P Storage located in Lebo, KS.

He carried on the family passion of "playing" in the dirt and his love of farming. He enjoyed many years of the sand dunes in Oklahoma, the Colorado trails, KU Jayhawk Basketball, haggling a new purchase and took pride in his numerous Chevy and Ford pickup trucks. In his off time, he was always eager to help his work family, friends and family. The annual "Minnesota Boys" visit was always looked forward to with anticipation.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gary.

Kirk is survived by his wife of 46 years, Paula of the home; a daughter, Lori J. (Jeff) Wilkinson, Olathe; a son, Kale A. (Stephanie) Saueressig, Basehor; a brother, Dallas (Pam) Saueressig, Burlington; his grandchildren, Jack, Claire, and Gavin Wilkinson, and Kade and Addison Saueressig, his four legged side kick Lucy as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews across the 50 states.

"PaPa Kirk Kirk" was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren.

There will be a family Graveside Service Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 1:30 pm at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to gather at Kirk and Paula's home located at 1580 11 ^th Rd Burlington, KS 66839 at 2:30 P.M.
