Karlyne Rose Sherman, 69, passed away early Friday, May 5, 2023, at her home in New Strawn, Kansas.

She was born December 13, 1953, in Florence, Kansas, the daughter of Carl and Margymae (Wolfersperger) Britton. She grew up in Peabody, Kansas and graduated from Peabody High School in 1971. She then attended Flint Hills Technical School in Emporia.

On January 25, 1974 she married Dennis L. Sherman in Peabody, Kansas. They had a son Carl Sherman.

Dennis and Karlyne owned and operated Sherman Auto Parts in Waverly for many years. Karlyne also worked at Country Critters and at Plasti-Crate/Kennel-Aire.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather Charles Grindstaff, a brother Eldon Britton, a brother-in-law Douglas Sherman.

She leaves her husband of 49 years Dennis Sherman, son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Shannon Sherman, grandchildren August and Randy Sherman, a brother Dale (Linda) Britton, sisters-in-law Nancy (Larry) Greenfield, Sherie Sherman, Jan (Mike) Stair, Linda Johnston She also leaves nieces and nephews; Janet (Kevin) Eck, Cheri (Darren) Hopson, Paul Britton, Matt Britton, Lance Britton, Amanda Petersen, Tammy Greenfield, Heather (Josh) Oswald, James (Ashley) Sherman, Dustin Stair, Daniel (Ann) Stair, and Cassie Stair.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home, Burlington, Kansas. Burial will follow at Stringtown Cemetery.
