• Joseph Fleet "Joe" Harris, 37, of Gridley, KS, passed away early Sunday morning, June 10, 2018, at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington.

Joe and his twin brother Andrew were born June 1, 1981, in Stillwater, OK, the sons of Donald Eugene and Florence L. (Wheeler) Harris.  He grew up in Perkins, OK, and graduated from Perkins-Tryon High School in 1999.

He worked at Kirtz Shutter Mill for a time, then began a career with Wal-Mart, where he had been an assistant manager at stores in Stillwater and Alva.  In spring of 2017, he joined his brother and family in a move to Gridley and worked as a cook at Life Care Center in Burlington, KS.

Joe lived a very simple life.  He adored his niece, Penelope, and treasured time playing with her and watching over her.  In his spare time, he kept his truck spotless and liked to go target shooting with pistols.  In younger years, he was amazing at karaoke and could sing just like Merle Haggard and Hank Williams. He is remembered for his great smile and friendly personality by family, friends and former work colleagues.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Donald Eugene Harris and paternal grandfather and grandmother, Wade A. and Uthene "Tina" Harris, both long-time employees of Perkins-Tryon schools.

He is survived by his mother, Florence Harris, of Perkins, OK; his twin brother, Andrew Harris, and wife Paige-Marie, and their daughter Penelope, of Gridley, KS; two sisters, Christina Harris of Weimar, CA, and Molly Caneday and husband Nathan of Keller, TX; and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

The family will hold a memorial service to honor Joseph at the Old Church Center in Perkins, OK, on June 16, 2018 at 3 p.m.   A memorial service in Kansas will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 23, at Gridley Christian Church in Gridley, KS
