Johnny Lee Akers
August 26, 1954  ~  March 28th, 2025

Johnny was born August 26, 1954, in Burlington, Kansas, the second baby born at the brand new Coffey County Hospital , delivered by Dr. McConnell . He was the son of John Akers, Jr. and Valetta (Mautz) Akers.

He died peacefully at home.

Johnny worked on the family farm from the time he was a young boy. He served honorably in the National guard obtaining the rank of Sergeant before the end of his term .

He worked at Birk oil for over 20 years after various jobs around the country. He was a hard worker and very dependable. He had a great love for the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and camping. Later in his life Johnny had a love for feeding his birds setting up butterfly gardens and his honeybee hives. Johnny would share his garden harvest with many friends and people in the neighborhood.

Johnny believed in God and attended the Lebo Baptist Church in Lebo, KS. He loved his family, especially his mother. He spent many hours just sitting and visiting with her at the end of his life, living right next door.  Johnny will be remembered for his free spirit and always loving life and living it the way he wanted to. He never met a stranger. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Johnny was preceded in death by his father, John Akers Sr.

Johnny leaves behind his mother Valletta Mautz Fellers: siblings, Anna and Her fiancé Spence Martin of Burlington, Mary and Robert  Henderson of Beaver, OK, and Michael and Kim Fellers and family of Hugoton, KS; nieces and nephews, Dominic Stremel and family of Garden Plains, KS, Bobby and Angie Crouch and family of Leesville, SC, Jake and Sabra and family, Perryton TX, and Sara and Nikki Hart and family of Dallas, TX; and many great nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be sent to Jones Funeral Home, PO Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839, to help with expenses.

Services will be arranged at a later date.
