Jerry Lee Mentzer, 75, life-long resident of Yates Center, Kansas, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

He was born June 19, 1948, at Yates Center the son of Merrill Burdette and Marie (Stout) Mentzer. He graduated from Yates Center High School in 1966. He then earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Emporia State University. He farmed his whole life and served as Woodson County Appraiser for over 30 years.

On July 29, 1967, he and Linda Marie Gregg were married at Yates Center. They became the parents of two sons.

Jerry was a member of the Yates Center Saddle Club, the Kansas Livestock Assoc., Numismatist Money Club, and the Sons of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He leaves Linda, his wife of nearly 57 years; his sons, Lovell Mentzer (Lisa), Augusta, KS, and Jonas Mentzer (Dana, of Overbrook, KS; grandchildren, Dylan Dyson, Dara, Ashtyn (Paden), and Megan (fiance Cody); a great-grandson, Cade; a sister, Kay Thummel (Rodney), of Yates Center; many other relatives and friends.

The family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center.

Private family graveside services will be held at Belmont Cemetery at Yates Center.

There will be a Celebration of Jerry's Life on June 22, 2024, at the Yates Center Community Building.
