Jeanette Wiederkehr, 90, of Waverly, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 30, 2024, at the Life Care Center in Burlington, with her family at her side.

Jeanette M. (Taylor) Wiederkehr was born September 25, 1934, in Minneapolis/St.Paul, MN, to Orville Roy and Laura (Vollert) Taylor. Her family moved to Elmhurst, IL, a suburb of Chicago when she was a child and they moved to Leawood, KS, when she was a senior in high school. Jeanette attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence, majoring in Mathematics. It was in Lawrence that she met her husband, Lloyd H. Wiederkehr. They were married September 3, 1955, in Leawood, and their first home was in Clinton, KS, where the city girl became a farm wife.

The building of Clinton Dam in the mid 1970s forced the Wiederkehrs to find their footing elsewhere. This move landed them just south of Waverly, KS, where they would spend the remainder of their lives raising three children, farming acres of grains, and harvesting and selling hedge posts to other farms from Oklahoma to Nebraska and beyond. Jeanette spent her life running the accounts for the farm and being very active in her community. She drove a school bus both in Lawrence and in Waverly, was a member of the Tri-W EHU in Waverly, and was a member of the Farm Wives organization. Much of her time was also dedicated to sewing clothing and doll clothing for her children, knitting, making beautiful counted cross stitch wall hangings, and of course, making her award-winning jams and jellies for the Coffey County Fair.

To say that Jeanette was Hallmark's favorite customer would be a gross understatement, and she made sure everyone had their own, individually selected series of ornaments which she would update - every year. Every person. She always had a silly joke to make you smile and a sweet treat to share.

Jeanette was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they were the profound enjoyment of her life.

Jeanette is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Lloyd, her sister, Miriam, and son-in-law, Sam. She is survived by her children, Virginia (Richard) Marsh of Westphalia, Nancy Mann of Topeka, Steve Wiederkehr of Kansas City, KS; Six grandchildren Amy (Mike) Sprinkle, Jake (Amanda) Marsh, Weston (Sarah) Marsh, Brandy (Mac) Rosel, Raqual (Blake) Carlson, Tyler Mann; 13 great-grandchildren Jenna (Hunter), Riley, Colt, Mabel, Orin, Parker Jane, Vayda, Colton, Carter, Charlotte, Callan, two great-grandchildren in New Jersey; her brother-in-law, Ken Peters, in Arizona and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.

Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Prairie Home Cemetery at Topeka, KS.

The family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
