James Anderson "Jim" Moore, 79, of Emporia, Kansas, passed away Wednesday

night, January 1, 2020, at Holiday Resort in Emporia.

He was born August 3, 1940, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the son of James F. Moore and  Pauline G. Moore (Carr).

Jim spent his childhood on the family farm south of Yates Center KS. He attended

country school and graduated from Yates Center High School in 1958. He served

in the Army National Guard for several years during the Viet Nam era.

In December of 1962, he and Catherine Winfough were married. They moved to

Arizona where Jim began his career with the Bell telephone company. Catherine

preceded him in death on January 10, 1969.

Jim continued working for Bell Telephone and retired in 1993 as a fiber optics specialist for US West Telephone.

On November 30, 1991, Jim and Janice Marie Knowles were married at the First

Baptist Church in Burlington Kansas. Following Jim's retirement, they moved to Emporia Kansas.

In his leisure time, Jim enjoyed collecting guns and shooting them. In earlier years

he enjoyed riding his dirt bike with his friends in Arizona. He enjoyed

woodworking and restoring old cars.

He attended the Life Fellowship Church in Emporia Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Moore and Pauline Duncan, and

his sister, Betty Sue Sayer.

He leaves his wife, Jan, of the home in Emporia KS; his children, Shelly Cushenbery (Larry) of Andover, KS, Nicole Tarango (Sergio) of Mesa, AZ, Kimberly Boyd (Mike) of Yates Center KS, Pam Tressler (Doug) of Yates Center KS, and James Michael Knowles of Houston,, Tx; 17 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and one on the way; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at Campbell

Funeral Home in Yates Center KS. Burial will follow in Yates Center Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral

home.
