Jackie D. Chrisman, 84, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018, in Independence.

He was born July 24, 1934, in Neodesha, Kansas, the son of Willis "Gene" and Velda (Daniels) Chrisman.

He spent his early childhood in Altoona, Kansas, and the family later moved to Wichita where he graduated from Wichita North High School. On December 5, 1956, he entered the United States Army serving in active duty for two years and then transferring to the Army Reserve until his Honorable Discharge on November 30, 1962.

Following his discharge he moved to Kansas City where he was employed as a ware house manage by Macy's.

He was an active member of Post #499, American Legion in Blue Springs, Missouri. He served on the funeral honor guard and traveled around the country. He was a fan of the Kansas City Royals, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the University of Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Billie Chrisman.

As to his wishes cremation is planned. A family service will be held at Altoona Cemetery at a later date.
