Joe Edward Kimbell, 83, long time resident of Yates Center, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, KS.

Ed was born January 20, 1941, in Emporia, KS. Ed was the son of Richard and Dorothy (Fisher) Kimbell and was a 1959 graduate of Virgil KS High School. From there he attended 2 years at Kansas State where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He then attended and graduated from Texas Christian University's Ranch Management program in Fort Worth, TX.

On April 29th, 1963, he and Marcia Jean Newland were married in Miami Oklahoma. Ed and Marcia spent their life together on Kimbell Ranch northwest of Yates Center where Ed ranched cattle for over 60 years. Ed was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and loved watching them play through the good years and bad.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marcia Kimbell, his brother Zachary Kimbell, and sister  Judy Manske.

He leaves behind his three son's - Richard Kimbell and Lisa Davis of Yates Center, Zachary Kimbell and wife Debbie of Parkville, Missouri, and Kyle Kimbell of Yates Center; 3 grandchildren Lauren Spencer (Dakota) of Kansas City, Missouri, Lindsey Kelly (George) or Whitestown, Indiana, and Joel Kimbell (Camryn) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, – two great grandchildren James and Julia Kelly – his sister-in-law Elaine Morris of Yates Center - and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 13th at 1:30pm at The Calvary Episcopal Church, 110 S. Grove St., Yates Center, KS with Reverend Helen Hoch officiating. Burial will follow in Yates Center Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends from 4:00 P.M. until 5:30 P.M. Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Campbell Funeral Home in  Yates Center.
