Irma Faye Griffin, 98, passed away April 23,2025 at Brookside in Overbrook, Kansas.

She was born July 11, 1926, on the family farm east of Old Strawn, KS, the daughter of Charles and Sadie (Mark) Farmer.

She   graduated from Strawn High School.

On May 29, 1946, she and Norman Ray Griffin were married at Emporia, KS. They became the parents of two daughters, Virginia and Norma.

Irma managed the lumber yard and grain elevator in Old Strawn from 1946 to 1950. Quite an accomplishment for a lady in that era. She worked at the rock quarry south of Hartford weighing rock for much of the construction of the John Redmond Reservoir. She also worked at the Hartford grain elevator during harvest times. She then worked for a number of years in the Coffey County Courthouse in various offices. Following her retirement she worked for A & A Tax Service in Burlington until she was 82.

She and Norman were avid square dancers. They had danced in 47 of the states and in 5 foreign countries. They were also active in Grange and Irma had served as State Youth Director.

She was a member of and attended the Christian Church in Old Strawn.

Her husband, Norman, preceded her in death on March 23, 1997. She was also preceded by two sisters, Bertha Mudge and Edith Farmer; two brothers, Elmer and Delmer Farmer; and an infant sister, Letha Pearl Farmer.

She leaves her daughters, Virginia Kinney, Scranton, KS, and Norma Hoch (Rod), Osage City, KS; three grandchildren, Deann Rodriguez (Luis), Troy Kinney (LeAnn), and Kylee Olsen (Robbie); six great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Samuel, Nathaniel, Norah, Sadie, and Cataleya; many other relatives and friends.

Private family services will be held.
