Ifajean Doris Knapp, 102, Marysville, formerly of Burlington, passed away on December 11, 2020 at the prestigious age of 102. She had been a resident of Cambridge Place in Marysville since 2015.

Ifajean was born on September 27, 1918 on a farm southeast of Gridley to William and Anna Kash Receck.

She was raised on a farm east of Gridley till the family moved to Madison. As a young lady she and her sister accompanied the father to local square dances each week where he played fiddle and called the dances while she played the guitar. The girls were a big part of the entertainment. She was married to Julius Knapp on December 25, 1940 in Emporia and they made their home on a farm northwest of Gridley. They were married for 59 years.

She spent most of her early married years as a farm wife and mother of three. Eventually they moved to town and purchased the Knapp Retail Liquor Store. During the construction of Wolf Creek Generating Station, they sold the store, and she began working at the courthouse as a busy custodian until her retirement. Ifajean was a member of the Christian Church of Burlington.

Ifajean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Julius, a sister, Marjorie Shaffer, and a granddaughter, Deborah Sue Freeman, a son in law, Richard (Dick) Freeman, and a daughter in law, Betty Knapp.

Ifajean is survived by her son, Loren Knapp, Blue Rapids, two daughters, Sharon Sue Freeman, Burlington and Diana Holland and her husband James, Derby, 8 grandchildren Tonya (Eric) Bartholomew, Lisa Knapp, Johnny (Dawn) Freeman, Darren (Anita) Freeman, Richard Freeman, Stephen (Tiffany) Freeman, Laurie (Van) Willis, and James Holland, 6 great grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Private family funeral services will on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.   Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Christian Church of Burlington or the Meadowlark Hospice and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, P.O. Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
