Hope Selena Rose Garrett, age 6, and her little sister, Faith Annemarie Noelle Garrett, age 5, of Burlington, Kansas, died tragically in a house fire in the early hours of Friday, August 16, 2019.

Hope was born January 2, 2013, and Faith on February 27, 2014, both at the Coffey County Hospital in Burlington. They were just beginning their First Grade and Kindergarten years at Burlington Elementary School.

Hope loved dancing, singing (if nobody was watching), rocks, shells of any sort, taking nature walks, fishing, going to the park, and playing tag at the park. She loved princesses and playing dress up. When their cousin, Kristen, had her wedding, Hope and Faith saw Kristen and they were just in awe and said "Look Dad, a real Princess!." Hope was reserved and shy and didn't open up to people very quickly, but she could be easily bribed or made to feel comfortable by giving her some chocolate or some sort of treat. She would eat an entire box of raspberries if you turned your back. Hope complained about Faith constantly but would help her in a flash if she needed it. Her heart was golden and her little giggles would bring an infectious joy to your heart instantly. She loved to play games, especially Concentration (trying to find 2 matching cards). Hope and Faith also loved putting puzzles together. They were always seeking their Dad's approval on their accomplishments and he was always happy and proud of everything they did.

Faith loved dancing and singing very much. She and Hope were always competing at who had the better dance moves. She worshipped her Disney Princesses. Rapunzel was her favorite by far. Her Dad's favorite memories are of Faith singing "See the Light", "Part of My World" from "Little Mermaid", and "I Go On" from "Moana". She could melt anyone's heart with her singing. She was extroverted big time and would talk with literally anybody. She was so innocent and young. She and her Dad would take many walks along the shoreline of John Redmond looking for cool or beautiful rocks or shells. Even the plain rocks were beautiful to her and Hope. Their Dad still has rocks in the doors of his truck that they would try to sneak by him. Faith would always get her Dad in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom or to the kitchen for a drink of water. She would always ask her Dad if he thought she did a good job whenever she did anything. Her Dad was always happy and proud that she loved trying to be successful in his eyes. Hope and Faith would always run to their Dad screaming "Daddy!" when they were dropped off to him. Their Dad, James, will miss that forever.

The girls are survived by the father, James Garrett; their grandparents, Gerald and Sandra Garrett; and their uncle, Adam Garrett; all of Burlington. A cousin, Jaden Reilly; a number of great-uncles and great-aunts; many cousins; other relatives; and a community that mourns their death.

Funeral services for Hope and Faith will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, August 23, 2019, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery in Burlington.

The family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
